KING OF TIDES: Sun And Moon Cause Record-High Sea Water Levels

The annual problem with King Tides caused by winter weather has once again hit Vancouver with cold temperatures and wet conditions on the West Coast.

King tides are unusual and rare weather events in which the combined action of the sun and the moon’s gravity act together to create high levels.

This video was shot by a 51-year-old public relations consultant in Vancouver.

She said: “The tides have been steadily increasing for years but the past few years have seen a dramatic in king tides.

“This is the first time I have seen the ramp submerged, and in the attached video you can see how high the water is around David Lam Park.
