This is the heartwarming moment a family breaks into tears of joy after their pet pooch finds its way home after going missing days earlier.

The joyful reunion took place in the city of Barranquilla, which is located in northern Colombia’s Atlantico Department, with the household CCTV security system recording the moment at around 6.30pm on Monday, 4th April.

The images show traffic passing by the house, which has a small front yard, a fence and a gate, before the tiny dog squeezes under the latter and heads over to the door to the home.

Suddenly, cries of joy can be heard as the family realises that their little dog has returned home. The dog, who has not been named, had reportedly gone missing a few days previously.

The footage had notched up over 3.3 million views on Twitter at the time of writing, as well as over 228,000 ‘likes’, with numerous netizens sharing in the family’s joy.

One user said: “Cry with me. A family reacts when their puppy, who had been lost a few days ago, comes home all by itself.”

While another, apparently a dog owner, said: “And my dog was lost for an hour and I was dying of sadness, but after she appeared I scolded her because she was doing forbidden things with another dog.”

It is currently unclear why the dog went missing and what breed it is.
