HEAR I AM: Deaf Baby’s Tears Of Joy At Hearing Mum’s Voice

This is the heartwarming moment when a born-deaf baby bursts into tears as it hears its mother’s voice for the first time.

The 11-month-old tot had been taken to a doctor’s office in the city of Lianyungang, Jiangsu Province, eastern China, by its parents to have a cochlear implant fitted.

Video footage of the moment shows the baby sitting on its mum’s lap looking confused as it turns its head around apparently trying to find the source of the new sounds.

Then as its mother talks tenderly to her baby, it begins to cry at the strange sensation while dad wipes away the tears.

The heart-touching sight causes mum and dad to laugh with joy, and even the doctor who is adjusting sound levels in the implant cannot help but smile.

The parents said: “All the heartaches experienced along the way finally paid off!”

A second piece of footage shows the baby already getting used to its new life with the implant, as it keeps giggling on a train ride home.
