This is the moment a brave have-a-go hero pelts stones at two armed robbers trying to steal a pregnant woman’s car as they apparently shoot at him.

The incident was filmed by a CCTV camera at 9.21pm in San Bernardo in the central Chilean capital Santiago when a 23-year-old pregnant woman was apparently beaten by two gunmen who wanted to rob her vehicle.

In the dramatic footage, two gunmen are seen approaching the pregnant woman as she gets out of her car.

They appear to hit the victim and pull her hair while an accomplice in another vehicle pulls up alongside.

As the pregnant woman is thrown to the ground, a male passerby runs over to intervene.

One of the gunmen appears to shoot at the have-a-go hero, who moves out of the way before picking up an object that had fallen on the pavement.

The two suspects jump into the pregnant woman’s car and the passerby opens the back door. He apparently avoids being shot by the gunmen in the front seat.

The have-a-go hero then pelts the accomplice’s car with a stone and he throws one at the fleeing gunmen, who jump out of the pregnant woman’s car and run off down the road.

The unnamed hero told local media: “The woman was grabbed by her hair and they kicked and beat her. One guy pointed his gun at me and started to shoot.”

He added that he was frightened at the time, but would happily do it again to help someone in the future.

According to local media, the local police arrested two suspects several hours later.

Reports also said that the pregnant woman was not injured in the incident.

It is currently unclear whether the two detainees have been charged and if the third suspect has been found yet.

The investigation continues.
