The Russian mother whose hands were hacked off by her husband with an axe has posted a snap of her sporting her “bionic arm” next to her son whose arm is in plaster after he fell off his scooter.

Margarita Grachyova, 26, had her hands hacked off by her husband Dmitry, from Serpukhov in Moscow Oblast in western Russia, in December 2017 after he accused her of being unfaithful.

Her left hand was sewn back on after the attack while her right hand could not be saved and is now what has been dubbed a “bionic arm”.

Her husband was handed a 14-year jail sentence for the attack.

Grachyova said on Instagram that her five-year-old son recently broke his arm in a scooter accident.

She said: “Daniil fell off his scooter yesterday and, as it turns out, he broke his arm. He is a hero, he did not cry at all. His arm was slightly swollen today, and I went to the emergency room with him to help him relax. I hope the bone mends by the time of his (sixth) birthday on 29th May.”

She lives at home with her two sons, seven-year-old Dmitry and her little ‘wounded soldier’ Daniil, 5.

In October 2019, Grachyova released her autobiography ‘Happy without Hands’.

In the book, she recounts how her cruel husband took her to a nearby forest where he chopped off both hands with an axe.
