Music superstar Akon has confessed to flying to Turkey for a cut-price hair transplant claiming that he would have been scalped for USD 50,000 if he had had it done in the USA.
The ‘Lonely’ and ‘Smack That’ singer lifted the lid over the procedure during a podcast in the USA.
The 49-year-old Senegalese-American star was speaking on The Bootleg Kev Podcast on 16th October.
And he told fans that the most agonising part of the whole op was the anaesthesia.
He explained: “The most painful part is not the hair transplant, but the moment when they numb the head.
“I’m not kidding. They stick huge needles in your head all the time. You feel a strange numbness.”
The platinum-selling artist reportedly paid just USD 7,500 for the hair transplant, a procedure that the singer claims would have cost him USD 50,000 in the United States.
He went on to state that Turkey is synonymous with two things – good hair and good dentists.
After the confession, Akon was mocked mercilessly by fans’ memes over the op to fix his thinning thatch.
In one image, the singer’s new do is compared to a plastic Lego man’s hairline.
But Akon then wrote: “Yo this Akon hairline challenge is the funniest (expletive) I’ve ever (seen).”
“You guys got me rolling!! Send more please!!!”
The music legend then joined in the fun by comparing his new hairstyle to a picture of a red-headed man with an unflattering bowl haircut.
