This is the moment a gunman reportedly shoots dead a male shop owner and a female worker is seriously injured when a bullet ricochets and punctures her lung.

The incident was filmed at around 8.40pm in the Technology Square shopping centre in the city of La Paz in the central Mexican state of Mexico and the CCTV footage was shared on social media.

Reports said the shooting took place on 10th January, but the video has been released by the authorities now.

In the footage, two men are seen casually walking past the victim’s shop and the suspect in front appears to remove a gun from his pocket before turning back.

He then seems to shoot multiple times at close range, and a young woman falls to the floor as the two men run away.

Reports said that the unnamed shop owner died on the scene while a female worker identified as Patricia Guzman was hospitalised after a ricocheted bullet punctured her lung and caused a spinal injury.

Security guards tried to stop the two suspects, but they both managed to get away, according to local media.

The emergency services arrived at the shopping centre and cordoned off the area to collect evidence.

It is currently unclear why the shop owner was targeted by the two men.

No arrests have been made so far and the investigation is ongoing.
