Fourty-seven-year-old Ralf Schumacher – an F1 motor racing champ in his own right – was supposed to be plugging his new range of men’s skincare products.

But in an interview on German TV, he admitted he had tried cosmetic surgery to get rid of his own wrinkles.

Ralf’s new range – Schumacher Cosmetics – includes moisturisers with eye-watering prices.

His Absolute Care Cream costs EUR 115 (GBP 110) for a tiny phial and his Eye Serum costs a hefty EUR 105 (GBP 91).

But in an interview with German TV presenter Andrea Kaiser, 41, on 15th May, he told how he had turned to cosmetic procedures for help with his own ageing.

Schumacher said: “I tried Botox about ten, 15 years ago because my forehead wrinkles bothered me.”

But he says he had to give it up because the treatment froze his facial muscles.

He said: “I didn’t find it that exciting, though. The result was very clear, but I’m someone who also works very hard with facial expressions professionally.

“And here the expressiveness just decreases.”

Schumacher claimed that despite their macho image, racing drivers seek out quality skincare treatments.

His 21-year-old son – David Schumacher – is tipped as a future F1 star and has already tried out the products, he said.

Schumacher said: “He has actually tried the creams before, I have to say he’s probably not quite there yet.”

David is following his family’s footsteps and currently competes for Mercedes-AMG’s Team Winward.

Ralf said: “David is a very quiet, open, young and polite man who always looks out for others.

“Ever since David was five or six years old, I’ve been spending most of his time on racetracks with him.

“It’s the best thing when you share the same passion with your son.

“My parents weren’t interested in motorsport. It was horrifying for my father. He prefers to go fishing.

“Throughout my career, he has visited me maybe five times at the race track.”
