This is the moment an experienced parachutist crashes to the ground with a sickening thud in a fatal accident.

The incident was filmed in the village of Maryanovka in the Russian region of Omsk Oblast on 29th May.

According to the news site Life, the experienced parachutist, identified as 49-year-old Sergei S., miscalculated the distance to the ground while sharply turning to make his landing.

As a result, he hit the ground at speed and died on the spot of his injuries.

The emergency services arrived promptly on the scene, but could only pronounce the man dead.

Life said that Sergei S. was a keen parachutist with extensive jumping experience.

A preliminary investigation was carried out at the scene and the case materials have been delivered to the Investigative Committee of Russia to launch a probe into the incident.

In the footage, Sergei S. appears to be descending at speed as he takes a sharp turn and hits the ground with a sickening thud.

The parachutist is heard groaning a moment after crashing to the ground before the cameraperson pans away from the tragic scene.
