An Egyptian husband has filed for divorce one month into marriage after saying his wife was totally different to how she appeared on Facebook and without makeup.

The man, name not reported, has filed for divorce at a family court in Egypt just weeks after marrying the woman he said he thought was the love of his life.

The husband is quoted as telling the court: “I was deceived by her as she used to apply heavy makeup before marriage.”

He added: “She looks ugly without makeup.”

He said he was shocked to see his wife’s natural look when he woke up the day after the nuptials.

According to the news site Today, the Egyptian man met his wife on Facebook after seeing numerous photos of her wearing makeup and glam clothes.

The pair arranged to meet up a few times before the man decided ‘she was the one’ and popped the question, according to Gulf News.

However, he told the court: “After the wedding I saw her real face without makeup. I was shocked…as she looks nothing like the person I met several times before marriage.”

He explained: “I saw her pictures on Facebook, she looks totally different when she does not wear makeup.

“I was deceived and want to divorce her.”

A similar incident took place in the United Arab Emirates in 2016 when a couple got divorced after only six months of marriage.

According to Today, the couple went to the beach and the 34-year-old husband was shocked to see his wife without makeup after she took a dip in the sea.

The woman, 28, reportedly needed counselling to cope with the emotional scars of being divorced for such a reason.
