A burger bar in Spain’s holiday hotspot Malaga has started printing their waiters’ wages on the menu as well as the price of meals.
Bosses at Grillaera Burger at the Costa resort say they are trying to show how fairly they treat workers at one of the most popular resorts in the world.
Many staff in the industry claim they are being short changed by greedy employers with short-term contracts and few employment rights.

Now customers at the burger bar will be able to see exactly where their money goes after a meal.
According to the menu, waiters earn EUR 1,600 gross per month.
Their social security contributions are also included along with the net sum they receive and the hours they work.
The menu explains: “By enjoying Grillaera, you are contributing to creating a fairer profession and eradicating a social scourge around conditions.”

The restaurant owners also inform their customers that employees work the number of hours they are contracted for, that 80 per cent of the workforce is on a permanent contract, and that the salary is stipulated by the Malaga hotel agreement.
Netizens praised the grill owners for not only employing their workers fairly but also highlighting the issue of poor work contracts among many of its rivals in Malaga.
One Twitter user said: “Have you ever seen anything like this? It’s the first time I’ve seen a menu where they state what the waiters earn.”
Netizen ‘Ruzo Pzicopata’ commented: “The working conditions at places where my brother has been interviewed in Malaga. 1. Eleven hours a day. One day off. 15h/week contract. EUR 900.

“2. Ten hours a day. One day off. Part-time contract. EUR 1,000.
“3. 45h/week. No day off. No contract. EUR 790.”
