Barcelona icon Rafael Marquez has been caught in a scandal as rumours have surfaced of him having an alleged affair with this hot television host.
Mexican legend Marquez, 40, is caught in a scandal after an anonymous source claiming to be a friend of television host Patty Lopez de la Cerda, 33, spoke with Mexican magazine “TV Notas”.
In the revealing interview, the source claimed Marquez and the host have been having a secret relationship despite the former defender’s marriage to Mexican actress and model Jaydy Michel, 43.
The source started by mentioning a recent encounter between the two “a few days ago, Rafa came to Mexico City to go to a concert.
“They had planned everything because Patty would be in the same place at the same time” claiming that they “planned it days in advance” and “in the end they spent the night in a hotel.”
However, according to the source, the relationship does not seem to be anything serious as “Rafa was very clear with her, he told her they could not be a couple.
“They would only be able to see each other every once in a while in secret and she would have to be discreet.”
The source went to say that the sentiment seems to be mutual as Lopez de la Cera “told him: ‘Look, I like you, but only for a good time’.”
The TV host allegedly has several footballer “friends” assuring Lopez de la Cera is “happy with having many friends and going out with them sometimes.”
According to the interview “Rafa knows about the meetings Patty has with his former teammates but he keeps seeing her because he really enjoys her company”.
Lopez de la Cera posted a statement on her social media saying “Do not believe everything you hear” condemning magazines for “defaming people to sell magazines”.
She went on to say: “These people dedicate their time to making up rumours and disregard another person’s life with no ethics whatsoever. It is enough.
“I will not speak further on the subject and in the following days I will seek legal action.”
There have been no reports of any lawsuits by the host.
Marquez or his wife Michel have not issued any statements. The couple have been married since 2011 and have a three-year-old son together.
Marquez is widely considered to be one of the best Mexican footballers in history helping Mexico win the FIFA Confederations Cup in 1999 and the CONCACAF Cup in 2015.
He played for Barcelona between 2003 to 2010 winning La Liga four times and the Champions League twice. He retired at Mexican side Atlas in 2018.
In 2018, he became only the third player to play for his national team in five consecutive editions of the FIFA World Cup, in the 2002, 2006, 2010, 2014 and 2018 editions of the tournament.
