This mother is being investigated for allegedly leaving her two daughters alone in their flat for two days and her nine-month-old tot then reportedly starved to death.

The incident took place in the city of Zlatoust in south-central Russia’s Chelyabinsk Oblast region after mother Olga Bazarova allegedly left her flat with her eldest child, a boy aged seven, on Monday 21st October.

She reportedly left her two daughters, aged three years and nine months respectively, inside the flat and did not return until Wednesday 23rd October, according to reports.

When the mother returned she reportedly found the elder daughter running around the cradle and the baby was dead.

Local media report the mother saw what had happened and allegedly left the flat with her elder daughter and son, leaving the dead tot’s maternal grandmother to discover her body on Friday 25th October when she went to visit the family.

An autopsy has reportedly shown the baby died of starvation.

The remaining two children were sent to an orphanage and local police are currently investigating the matter. It is unclear what the mother was doing in her time away from the flat.

According to Bazarova’s neighbours, the police were frequent visitors to her flat as she has thrown noisy get-togethers disturbing other residents. Reports suggest some neighbours had informed social services about her behaviour but it is unclear if any action was taken.

The investigation is ongoing and no arrests have been reported.

Netizen ‘Katyushka Ryabina’ said: “I am more than sure that she was the one who killed the child. I think she didn’t care much about her children. All she cared for was getting drunk.”

While ‘Marker Ostriy’ added: “Women like that do not deserve to be called a mother. It is a shame that women like her can’t be forcefully sterilised.”

And ‘Andrey Voznuk’ commented: “Yeah, there was information that the woman is not OK, but social services decided to wait for evidence…”
