Baby, 2, Left Home Alone By Party Going Mum Survives House Fire By Hiding In Fridge

A two-year-old child has saved himself from dying in a house fire as smoke and flames filled the building by hiding in the fridge after he was left at home alone by his party-going mum.

The fire broke out at the home in the Brazilian city of Cuiaba in the early hours of Friday 9th July. Cops later arrested the baby’s mum, who had gone out to a party, for child abandonment.

At the time of the incident, neighbours noticed flames coming from the house and they managed to contain the blaze with buckets of water.

Inside the property, they found the youngster alive, hiding inside the fridge. He was alone in the house at the time.

He was taken to a local A&E where he received a medical checkup with doctors confirming he had not been injured in the fire.

Police officers began a search for the child’s mother, who they found in the company of her boyfriend.

She was taken to a local police station where she told officers she left the youngster with a friend while she went to work.

She later came clean, telling the police that she left her baby son at home alone to go to a party. The youngster was then taken into the care of the child protective services.

The baby’s mother attended a custody hearing on 10th July, after which she was released.
