Arnold Schwarzenegger Says He Named His Cute New Dog Schnitzel After His Favourite Dish

Arnold Schwarzenegger says he has named his cute new dog ‘Schnitzel’ after his favourite dish.

The legendary Austrian-born American star, 74, also told his 25 million Facebook followers that ‘Schnitzel’ was a nickname he was sometimes called as well.

Posting the news on Facebook along with pictures and video, the legendary Hollywood action hero and former Governor of California said: “I got her for Christmas! Her name is Schnitzel, after my favorite Austrian dish and my own nickname.”

The ‘Governator’ added that the new dog is getting along well with some of his current pets. He said: “I can’t wait to keep sharing pictures and videos of her as she gets older. She and Dutch are already best friends.”

Dutch, apart from being the name of his character in the hit movie ‘Predator’, is also the name of one of his other dogs.

But he also said that one of his smaller dogs, called Cherry, is not getting along so well with the newcomer. He said: “Cherry shows her teeth to her nonstop, and Lulu tried to trample her, so we are working on all of the relationship dynamics. At least Whiskey doesn’t care about anything as long as she gets her food. But she is such a sweet little meatball.”

Whiskey and Lulu are Schwarzenegger’s two ponies, which he even lets inside his massive, USD-400-million (GBP-294-million) mansion in Los Angeles, much to the surprise of some of his relatives, who were visiting him over the Christmas holidays from Austria.

Schwarzenegger recently told Jimmy Kimmel as much and added that he is enjoying being a grandfather and is delighted that his daughter Katherine, who is married to the actor Chris Pratt, has made him a grandfather again by welcoming into the world little Lyla Maria, with whom he is enjoying spending time.

The breed of the new dog is currently unknown.

Schnitzel is a Central European dish that is usually a thin slice of meat that is tenderised before being breaded and fried. It is popular in many countries and is often made using veal, pork, chicken, mutton, beef or turkey.
