This is the moment a Turkish mother stabs her son’s teacher with a knife in front of dozens of schoolchildren in a playground.

The startling incident took place at Gundogdu Manas Primary School in the Kirikkale province of Turkey and was recorded by a CCTV camera.

Local media report the mother, named in reports as Mehtap O., went to the school to pick up her son and began arguing with the youngster’s teacher, Yuksel Kuzucu, 40.

Reports state the mother suffered a nervous breakdown and pulled out a knife. In the video, she can be seen grabbing the teacher by the neck and swinging the blade towards his face.

She swings the blade twice more before Kuzucu tries to get away but she follows him around the playground where dozens of children are leaving the school.

Local media report other teachers intervened and managed to take Kuzucu to safety. He reportedly suffered cuts to his hands and arms in the incident and he was taken to Kirikklae Hospital in an ambulance.

Mehtap O. is said to have been receiving psychological treatment and suffered a nervous breakdown during the incident. She was taken to a classroom to calm down before being detained by the police, according to reports.

The investigation is ongoing and it is unclear if the suspect has been charged. There are no updates on the teacher’s condition.
