This is the moment a man with pink hair and clothes is beaten by two burly Russian men at a bus stop.

The incident was filmed by a bus passenger in the city of Belgorod in the south-western Russian region of Belgorod Oblast and the footage was widely shared on social networks.

In the video, two burly men can be seen hitting a young man with pink hair and a pink top who is seated at the bus stop.

As the men seem to harass the victim, passersby and other bus passengers do nothing to help.

According to eyewitnesses who later reported the incident to the authorities, the victim with pink hair had tried to escape the pair by climbing on a bus but the two men followed him and pulled him back onto the street where the alleged abuse continued.

Russian society is often accused of being homophobic and hostile to anyone appearing different , although it is unclear whether the victim was homosexual or simply prefering to look different, and for example copying Justin Bieber’s look in his latest hit single ‘Yummy’.

Netizens had a lot to say about the incident, with ‘Helena22345’ commenting: “Everyone has their own style. You don’t have to beat him up for this…”

‘Kunakulovasveta’ said: ‘If a person wants to stand out from the crowd, it’s better that he dyes his hair pink rather than becoming an alcoholic or criminal!”

‘Gallalla’ wrote: “Above everything else, I was shocked, not by the men beating up the poor guy, but by the public’s indifference to the situation. Very sad.”
