This is the moment a pair of wheels weighing over 440 pounds suddenly break off a moving lorry and roll over an unsuspecting road worker knocking him face first to the ground.

The freak accident was captured by traffic cameras as the worker, surnamed Luo, and his colleagues were busy painting a new zebra crossing in the city of Zhangjiagang in East China’s Jiangsu Province.

The footage shows the heavy goods vehicle turning through the junction between Yangjin Highway and Jinxiu Road when the set of rear wheels break off from an axle on the trailer.

The wheels, which were reportedly over 3 feet in diameter, roll towards the workers as their supervisor spots the danger and tries to warn the clueless lorry driver, surnamed Dai.

The road worker even turns to look at his boss but fails to notice the wheels coming right for him. He is hit in the back by the wheels, which then proceed to roll right over him.

The double lorry wheels crash to a stop against a scooter, whose owner, surnamed Gu, is able to jump out the way at the last second.

According to the police, Luo luckily escaped with no life-threatening injuries despite being crushed by the full force of the wheels which they say weighed over 200 kilogrammes (440 pounds).

Lorry driver Dai will be held fully liable for the freak accident, the authorities added.
