The footage was shot at the world’s oldest zoo in the Schonbrunn palace grounds in the Austrian capital Vienna as the search starts for a name.

In a press statement zoo director Stephan Hering-Hagenbeck said: “It should be a short, pretty name that fits the polar bear’s habitat and differs from the names of the parents Nora and Ranzo.”

All name suggestions can be sent to name@zoovienna.at before February 25, 2020.

After all the suggestions are in place the team that takes care of the cub will decide on the most suitable one.

The name will be announced on February 27, World Polar Bear Day.

The cub – the firstborn at the zoo in eight years – came into the world in November and has now really started to walk and play as these images show.

Animal keeper Alessa Esau said: “The little girl explores the grounds alongside her caring mother Nora. She finds it exciting to climb tree trunks. She also likes to romp through the shallow water of the pools. At the end of the day, the cub is usually very dirty from playing and is no longer the typical white of a polar bear,.”

She added: “Nora is a very relaxed and even very playful mother. She’s already giving the little one some tips. “

Nora gave birth to twin cubs, fathered by a bear named Ranzo, but one of the youngsters did not survive.
