Lily – known as Olympe to her 250,000 followers on the video platform – looks as if she shoud have everything to live for.

But her happy-go-lucky appearance masks a tragic background and a history of deeply troubling mental conditions.

Olympe told her followers how she had been a victim of paedophilia and raped five times while growing up.

She says she was abandoned by her family and went through 20 foster homes in seven years while she endured 14 years of bullying at school.

Olympe revealed how she has been diagnosed with dissociative identity disorder (DID), a mental condition which has given her up to 15 different identities.

She also suffers from attention deficit hyperactivity disorder (ADHD).

Olympe started talking about her daily mood swings on her channel Le Journal d’Olympe (Olympe’s Diary).

Now, three years later, she has announced that she plans to take her own life through assisted suicide.

She said that she has already spoken it through with doctors and it will happen after the end of this year in Belgium, where assisted suicide is legal.

In a message that went viral she said that it was her choice and added: “My life is not a Netflix series. We cannot discuss the end.”

She said it was not a decision she came to lightly and that she had meditated deeply over her plan.

She added: “It is my life and it is a difficult decision that I have had to make. I am very tired (…) Life, I feel it as I suffer it.”

Olympe explained: “Like every human being, I have my limits and those limits have been pushed to the extreme for years.

“I cannot go through any more tests. I have received messages from people who tell me what an example I set for young people, but I cannot live for others and do things according to others.”

The tragic story follows on from the death in 2019 of 17-year-old Noa Pothoven, who also suffered childhood trauma when she was raped.

She died at home in The Hague, a city in the province of South Holland in the Netherlands.

The Dutch teenager had penned an autobiography called ‘Winning or Learning’ about her battles with mental illness after reportedly being molested and raped at a young age.

As a result she suffered from a post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD), depression and anorexia.

In a social media post one day before her death, Noa made her decision public.

She wrote: “I deliberated for quite a while whether or not I should share this, but decided to do it anyway. Maybe this comes as a surprise to some, given my posts about hospitalisation, but my plan has been there for a long time and is not impulsive.

“I will get straight to the point: within a maximum of 10 days I will die. After years of battling and fighting, I am drained. I have quit eating and drinking for a while now, and after many discussions and evaluations, it was decided to let me go because my suffering is unbearable.”

Noa added that she never felt as though she was ‘alive’, rather surviving, writing: “I breathe, but I no longer live.”
