The incident, that was captured on CCTV, happened at a petrol station in the city of Mississauga, in the southern Canadian province of Ontario shortly after midnight on Saturday, 4th July.

The footage released now in a bid to try and track down one of the men responsible shows two young men walk into the store. In the back of the property, they then lit a firework, before walking up to the cashier and pointing it at the employee.

One man can be seen pointing the lit firework at the employee as rockets launch one after the other towards him in quick succession, while his pal appears to be filming it on a mobile phone.

Smoke can be seen filling the gas station store and the youths then run outside, as it seems, without having taken anything.

The police have not speculated about a possible motive for the assault, which remains a mystery.

According to a police report, investigators from the 12 Division Criminal Investigation Bureau have arrested and charged one suspect.
