This young man has died after his friend shot him in the chest while they were playing Russian roulette.

Gilberto Santana passed away in the Brazilian municipality of Alagoa Nova on 17th May.

According to the police, the young man was killed while playing a modified version of Russian roulette known as Russian poker, in which participants take turns aiming and pulling the trigger of a revolver at each other, rather than at their own heads.

Gilberto and three other friends were playing the lethal game, which came to a tragic end when one of the men fatally shot Gilberto in the chest.

The police were called to the scene and arrested the owner of the revolver, a 22-year-old man, for murder.

According to news site Noticia Paraiba, the victim was also 22 years old, although news programme Borborema Noticias on channel TV Borborema reports that he was just 17.

Notable Russian roulette victims include American actor and model Jon-Erik Hexum, aged 26, and MMA fighter Ivan ‘JP’ Cole, aged 25.

Notable Russian roulette survivors reportedly include English writer and journalist Graham Greene, John Hinckley Jr, who attempted to assassinate U.S. President Ronald Reagan, and William Shockley, co-inventor of the transistor.

The police are investigating the latest case.
