A young couple on a motorbike with their toddler daughter have been machine-gunned down in the street in a suspected act of revenge.

Cristopher Nahuel Albornoz and Florencia Corbalan, both 21 years old, were on the back of a Honda Tornado motorbike with their 18-month-old daughter when machine-gun fire was heard in the neighbourhood of Empalme in the city of Rosario in the northern Argentine province of Santa Fe, according to witnesses.

All three family members reportedly died of their wounds shortly after arriving at the city’s Hospital Alberdi.

The toddler was shot in the left ear, head and left arm, but was still alive when she arrived at hospital, according to local media.

Prosecutor Marisol Fabbro said that dozens of bullet casings were found at the suspected scene of the shooting.

According to local media, the 21-year-old man was the son of Miguel Albornoz, nicknamed ‘Caracu’, who was arrested in April 2019 for allegedly cooking meth.

It is believed that the shooting was carried out by a criminal gang with a score to settle.

Cristopher’s great grandfather told local media that the young man had been threatened by criminals recently.

It is believed Cristopher was the target while his wife and daughter were merely ‘collateral damage’, according to reports.

No arrests have been made so far as the investigation continues.
