YOU DUMMIES: Red-Faced Firefighters Rescue Shop Mannequin From Canal

Firefighters became a laughing stock after they rushed to reports of a body in a canal only to fish out a dumped shop mannequin.

Dramatic night-time footage of the operations shows emergency lights flashing after the team of rescuers had attached a cable to the leg of the ‘victim’.

After blocking the road, they began carefully winching the body up to the surface and then realised whoever had made the emergency call might have been hanging them out to dry.

Hilarious phone footage of the rescue shows crowds gasping as the victim’s feet emerge from the water in Ribeirao Preto, Sao Paulo, Brazil, on 25th October.

Then some begin to notice something is wrong, laughing and saying ‘mannequin’.

Firefighting Sergeant Rodrigo Moura told local media: “We removed the dummy so that this doesn’t happen again, and now we’re going to use this piece.

“We don’t rule out any possibility. We came really thinking it was a body inside the stream.

“Thank God, no harm, it was just a dummy.”

Meanwhile, the bizarre situation prompted many quick-witted comments on social media platforms.

Instagram user ‘crissouzaalmeida’ said: “And the question you don’t want to ask… Where did this mannequin come from?”

Another user named ‘amoidimae’ added: “I keep imagining the firefighters.”

User ‘jhonatasreis.drummer’ laughed: “What if it was a real body? Would they pull off like that? Lmfao.”

The fire department did not reveal any further information on the origin of the dummy, but reported they will investigate the case.
