WORKED TO DEATH: Hard Working Woman Stabbed To Death By Layabout Boyfriend

A 21-year-old woman who slaved at two jobs to keep her idle 56-year-old boyfriend was stabbed to death when he flew into a fit of jealousy.

Devoted Edith Vianey Ramirez de Dios was reportedly beaten, throttled and stabbed by layabout Gregorio Basurto Aleman in a brutal attack at the house they shared in Oluta – a town in the Mexican state of Veracruz – on Friday, 22nd April.

Despite being decades younger than her boyfriend, it was reportedly Edith who was the main breadwinner, holding down two jobs to support them both.

At the beginning of their relationship, Gregorio scraped a living by selling water, but by the time of the alleged crime, he had no job and spent all his time drinking.

The victim’s family discovered the shock slaying when they failed to hear from her and went to the house the couple shared in the Tercero neighbourhood.

They found her there, lying in a pool of blood, and nearby was Gregorio, who had apparently tried to take his own life by cutting his neck.

Paramedics called to the scene confirmed that Edith had no vital signs, but Gregorio was still alive and was taken to a local hospital under arrest.

Edith Vianey was reportedly just 16 years old when she left the house she lived in with her eight siblings in precarious conditions to move in with Gregorio.

She reportedly believed he could offer her a better future, even though his previous marriage had ended acrimoniously, allegedly due to his violent behaviour.

In the mornings, Edith would work in a tortilla store, while in the afternoons, she would help her stepfather, named as Gonzalo Perez, in a taco store.

Her mother, Juana de Dios, had reportedly told her to leave the man on several occasions, having reportedly seen the bruises he left her with numerous times.

Her alleged killer remains in custody and is accused of femicide.
