This is the moment a woman becomes trapped between a tube station’s platform doors and the train after trying to force her way onto a train at the last second.
The heart-stopping incident was captured on CCTV at Little India station on Singapore’s Downtown Line on 26 August.
The video shows a passenger dashing into the train carriage just before its doors and the platform screen doors shut.
The woman in question then runs up to the platform and begins prising the screen doors open.
As she attempts the same with the already shut train doors, the screens close behind her, trapping her between the platform and the stopped train.
Downtown Line operator SBS Transit said a staff member noticed the woman attempting to enter the train and activated an emergency release to open the doors.
The woman is seen disappearing into the train carriage as other commuters and station staff are left stunned.
SBS Transit said the incident, which took place at roughly 3:30pm local time, played out in just 20 seconds.
The commuter was not harmed, and she is not believed to have been punished.
Local media – citing an unverified social media post – have claimed the woman’s desperate actions were the result of her running after her autistic sister, who had wandered into the stopped train without her.
Transport officials have not verified these claims.
