A woman almost lost her fingers after she was stung by a wasp and her hand quickly swelled – causing her gold rings to cut off the blood supply to her digits.

Panicked Natalia Olegovna thought she was going to lose her fingers when she was stung by the wasp and called the police in a panic when she saw the state of her hand and could no longer feel her fingers.

She said the pain was unbearable and that she became really worried when the figures not only swelled but then started to change colour. After trying unsuccessfully to remove the rings herself, she had then called the emergency services.

She said: “I did not take off the ring in time, as a result, the finger was severely swollen and blood began to come through the skin. The pain was unbearable.”

Before the emergency services could arrive, the woman went on to the street into a panic where she met policeman Alexander Ganibaev who quickly lept into action to help.

Ganibaev was returning from work when he noticed the crying woman on the street.

He said: “I asked what happened or if any help was needed. The woman told me that she was stung by a wasp and she was in severe pain, as the ring on her finger was cutting off the blood supply and she could no longer feel anything.”

Without waiting for the medics to arrive he had got hold of suppliers and immediately managed to cut the rings from her hand.

Natalia who felt immediate relief and could not thank the officer enough said: “I asked a passing policeman for help. In turn, he carefully removed the ring from my finger without causing any damage.”

After the policeman’s act she decided to write a letter of gratitude to the Shymkent Police Department.

Officer Alexander Ganibaev was happy to have received the letter and said: “People come to us with different problems, and each case needs to be responded to promptly. The trust and gratitude of citizens is the best reward for a police officer.”

The touching story was even shared on the official website of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Kazakhstan.
