This footage shows a middle-aged woman spending three hours ignoring fast moving traffic to alter the solid-line road marking outside her restaurant so she can make access easier for customers.

The footage showing what local media has dubbed ‘real-life photoshopping’ shows the unnamed woman repeatedly hitting the solid yellow line with a brick trowel to get rid of the paint.

Authorities with the Xiaoqiao Police Station in the city of Jian’ou in East China’s Fujian Province say the woman spent the next three hours chipping away at the road marking until she created broken yellow lines in front of her business.

Traffic camera footage shows her squatting down on the road and hitting the ground with the brick trowel, occasionally standing up when cars approach the area.

This, according to the woman, would allow drivers to turn into her business, which is a car wash and restaurant.

But after being caught in the act she was later summoned by authorities to explain her stunt.

She said in her statement: “The solid line outside stops drivers from turning in to my restaurant. It was affecting my business, so I took a brick trowel and chipped it away.”

The police fined her 1,500 RMB (169 GBP) and have ordered her to restore the solid yellow line after confirming her actions caused no injuries or damage to passing cars.

The authorities say the solid yellow line was placed there because it is an accident blackspot.
