Woman On Motorbike Smashed Into By Minivan But Instead Of Helping A Passerby Robs Her

This is the moment a woman biker is sent flying onto the tarmac by a minivan, and as she lies on the ground waiting for help, an opportunistic passerby walks over and steals her phone and wallet.

Brayan Rodriguez, age not stated, is facing up to six years in prison for aggravated theft after he allegedly robbed the 22-year-old woman just moments after she had been knocked off her motorbike by a minivan in the city of Puerto Madryn, Chubut Province, Argentina on 15th September.

A home security camera captured the moment the young woman was T-boned by a minivan travelling at high speed at an intersection.

The footage shows how the woman is thrown off the motorbike and flies through the air before she lands on the tarmac road with a thud.

People are seen rushing out to help her, with the emergency services arriving at the scene shortly after the collision.

As concerned residents gather around the woman, Rodriguez can be seen in the footage walking over to the motorbike and picking up what is believed to be the victim’s phone and wallet.

After picking up the two items, Rodriguez pockets them and walks away while the young woman lies severely injured on the road just feet away.

The local news site Clarin reported that as the young woman was thrown from her motorbike, her wallet and phone fell out of her pocket and landed nearby.

The authorities believe Rodriguez was passing by the scene of the collision when he noticed the two items on the floor, which he then picked up.

The woman did not notice her phone and wallet were missing until she was taken to hospital.

The police were informed, and officers used the security-camera footage to identify the alleged thief.

An unnamed local resident told the local news site Diario Jornada: “I saw a young man between 26 and 28 years old, of medium build, white complexion, red hair, big nose, who was moving the motorbike. He spent no more than two minutes at the scene of the accident.

“I saw a mobile phone and a wallet lying on the road when I went to see how the girl was. Upon returning to where the items were, the mobile phone was no longer there. And neither was the boy.”

The police tracked the young man down quickly thanks not only to the footage but also to the fact that he put his own SIM card into the phone, which allowed the cops to get the name of the person using the phone from the mobile provider.

The authorities searched the suspect’s home, where they found the mobile phone. It is not clear if they also recovered the wallet.

No updates were released regarding the health status of the woman who was hit by the minivan.
