This is the moment an OAP’s SUV smashes into an ambulance carrying a pregnant woman and flipping it on its side, with her surviving and giving birth shortly afterwards.

The incident was filmed by a CCTV camera in the city of Kuching in the central Malaysian state of Sarawak, located in the north of the island of Borneo.

In the dramatic footage, the ambulance is seen speeding through an intersection as an oncoming SUV, driven by a 74-year-old OAP, smashes into its side, flipping the vehicle over.

The pregnant woman inside the ambulance gave birth to a bouncing baby boy just hours after the horror smash, according to reports.

Police spokesman Alexson Naga Chabu told local media that the woman, who is in her forties, and newborn baby are both “safe and sound”.

The ambulance was taking the woman from Kota Samarahan to the Sarawak General Hospital when the SUV crashed into it at around 9.30am.

The pregnant woman and an ambulance worker both suffered minor injuries when the ambulance overturned.

The ambulance driver, another paramedic and the 74-year-old driver of the SUV were reportedly unhurt in the road accident.

They have all given statements to the police who are wrapping up their investigation, according to Chabu.

The spokesman added: “The deputy public prosecutor will decide on the next course of action.”
