This is the moment a bungling woman driver forgets to put on the handbrake and ends up chasing after her car as it rolls away down a sloping road.

Footage from the town of Wawo, which is in Wafangdian City in north-eastern China’s Liaoning Province, shows an official sprinting after the runaway vehicle too before stopping it.

The video dated 21st August shows the woman driving into a compound and she reportedly left her black saloon car in front of the office.

Moments later she is seen running after the car and opening the driver’s side door in a bid to get in, but the vehicle is rolling down the slope too quickly, and she cannot keep up.

Wawo Town official Yu Yingfu, 57, suddenly sprints into view and runs over a 100 feet to catch up to the car from the passenger side.

He loses a shoe but manages to open the door and stop the car before it crashes into other vehicles further up the street.

Yu recalled: “I told her her car was rolling away. She ran out, then I ran out.

“She opened the driver’s side doors and wanted to climb in to step on the brake, but she couldn’t do it.

“I ran over to the passenger side, then put on the handbrake and shifted into gear at the same time.

“I knew putting on the handbrake alone at that stage wouldn’t have been enough.”

The vehicle was stopped in less than a minute, with the accident fortunately not resulting in any injuries. The driver has reportedly forgotten to apply the handbrake when parking.
