Woman Finds Frog Inside Plastic Box Of Lettuce Bought From Supermarket

These images show a tiny frog alive and well inside a plastic container of lettuce that a woman found after she bought it from a supermarket.

The incident took place in the city of Barranquilla, the capital of northern Colombia’s Atlantico Department.

The woman said that she noticed the amphibian after arriving home while she was unpacking her shopping, according to local media outlet Pulzo.

In a clip posted online, she said: “I just bought my groceries at the Olimpica [supermarket] and look at the surprise that I just found. Supposedly in a high-quality lettuce and it came to me with a frog, and look at it, it looks alive and well.”

The footage was reportedly commented on by hundreds of netizens, many of whom claimed to have experienced similar situations.

In response, Olimpica released a statement saying that staff had removed the entire batch of products from the supply chain and that they had contacted the affected customer.

The supermarket said in a statement quoted by Pulzo: “The supplier company Hortifresco made a commitment with Olimpica Supermarkets to monitor the critical points of the entire process, to identify at an early stage the possible infection points and implement the use of technology that helps us identify pests in the products.”

It is currently unclear if the woman has been compensated.
