A Singapore woman claims she found a large winged insect in her chips at a McDonald’s restaurant that appears to have been deep-fried along with the potatoes.

McDonald’s in Singapore has vowed to look into a woman’s complaint after she discovered the gross winged insect among her fries.

The ‘McFly’ incident took place at a McDonald’s store in Bishan-Ang Mo Kio Park in the island city-state of Singapore and the photos were shared on Facebook by netizen ‘Ja-ne Yeo’.

The woman said: “My husband and I ordered a takeaway from the drive-through at around 10.39pm.

“We had eaten most of the fries when we discovered the ‘special ingredient’ at the end.”

She added: “I’m not an expert when it comes to insects so I couldn’t tell if it was a wasp or a bee.

“We contacted Bishan-Ang Mo Kio Park McDonald’s and an employee told us that someone will come to our place to retrieve the foreign object for lab tests.

“We felt disgusted to say the least, but feel fortunate that we discovered the whole bug instead of just a part of it.

“Rest in peace our special friend.”

Following the incident, a company spokesperson said: “At McDonald’s, we are committed to the highest food safety standards as an integral part of our business, and the well being of our customers is very important to us.”

“We have been in contact with the customer to address their concerns and are looking into this matter very closely.”

The statement added: “At the same time, we have also worked closely with our external pest control agency to swiftly conduct a thorough inspection at our restaurant.”
