Woman Falls From Third Floor Of Burning Shopping Centre

This is the shocking moment a woman falls from the third floor of a burning shopping centre while trying to escape from the flames and thick smoke.

The fire started on the third floor of a furniture shop in the Astykzhan shopping centre on Al-Farabi Avenue in the Kazakh capital Nur-Sultan on 2nd October, according to media outlet Nur.

The press service of the Emergency Situations Department of the capital reported that a 20-year-old unnamed woman was injured while the fire was being put out.

Footage shows the woman, who has not been named, falling from the third-floor window and hitting a container before landing on the ground while trying to escape the fire.

The Emergency Situations Department of the capital stated: “She is an employee of the ‘Universal’ furniture shop. She has been taken to the Scientific Research Institute of Traumatology and Orthopaedics (NIITO). Her condition is of moderate severity.”

According to the news site 24 Habar, 76 firefighters and 19 different equipment items were involved in extinguishing the blaze.

After the fire was extinguished, the affected area was reported to be 7,000 square metres (75,347 square feet).

The cause of the fire and the current health status of the woman are yet to be reported.

Other footage of the incident shows large flames emanating from the shopping centre as thick black smoke rises steadily into the sky above the Kazakh capital.
