Police are hunting for a man for drunkenly beating up his wife for so badly for hours with an iron bar that she attempted suicide by drinking bleach because she refused to hand over her paycheck.

These images are the result of the incident that took place in the district of Atasehir in the city of Istanbul in Turkey, after the man, identified only as Cuneyt G., asked his wife, Sumbul D., to give him her salary.

The woman refused, explaining that she wanted to use the money to pay the rent, which apparently made him angry.

He then allegedly beat her for three hours with a bottle and an iron bar breaking five of her ribs.

Her devastated sister, whose identity has not been disclosed, explained that the poor woman had been repeatedly abused, saying: “He was drunk and he planned the attack. He took her home and turned up the volume of the TV so the neighbours would not hear and he told my sister: ‘I will beat you for three hours. I will torture you.’

“She couldn’t bear the torture anymore and crawled to the kitchen where she tried to kill herself by drinking bleach, but she survived.” 

She is currently being treated in hospital. The suspect has gone on the run.

The victim, who has been married to the suspect for 19 years and has two children with him, said: “He wanted my salary and when I didn’t give it to him, he beat me. I will file a criminal complaint against him.”

The police are searching for the husband.
