Woman Arrested For Repeatedly Stabbing Medical Worker Outside US Hospital In Unprovoked Attack

A woman accused of repeatedly stabbing a medical worker outside a hospital in Massachusetts has been found and arrested.

The incident took place at Morton Hospital in the town of Taunton, about 40 miles outside Boston in the US state of Massachusetts.

Police shared images of the suspect and asked members of the public for information that could help them arrest her, captioning their post on social media: “The Taunton Police Detective Division is looking for assistance. On Tuesday, September 21, 2021 at approximately 1:15 PM the Taunton Police responded to a stabbing at Morton Hospital.

“A Morton Hospital Employee was outside of the hospital on a break on the North Pleasant St. side of the hospital when the female pictured below walked up behind her and stabbed her several times.

“This was an unprovoked attack on one of our healthcare providers. The area where this happened is on North Pleasant St., next to on the side of the Thayer building and close to O’Keefe-Wade Funeral Home.

The police later updated their post and simply added at the top: “Suspect in custody.”

Boston 25 News quoted the police as saying the attack had “stunned the region”.

The Taunton Police Department issued a statement on their website which said “Victoria Disharoon, age 28, of Taunton was charged with Assault and Battery with a Dangerous Weapon”.

They added that she is expected to be arraigned in court on 23rd September.

The incident took place on Tuesday 21st September at about 1.40pm when Taunton police responded to reports of an assault at Morton Hospital.

The police added: “Upon arrival, officers spoke to the victim, a 44-year-old Taunton woman. The victim told police that she was outside of the hospital on her break when she was approached from behind by a woman, later identified as DISHAROON, who allegedly forcefully pulled her ponytail and punched her several times in the back. The victim said she felt like she was being stuck with something while being punched.”

They added: “The victim told police that she did not know DISHAROON and that the attack was random and unprovoked.

“While the victim was receiving medical care, it was discovered that she had multiple puncture wounds on her shoulders and neck. She received medical care at the hospital, where she was treated and discharged.

“Earlier today, Taunton Police released a photo of DISHAROON from behind that was taken by the victim after the attack and sought the public’s help in identifying her.

The suspect was arrested in Raynham at approximately 4 pm. As a result of their investigation, the police seized a small pocket knife blade without a handle that is believed to have been used in the attack.

The police probe continues.
