This is the moment a woman arguing with her husband leaps from his moving car in a motorway tunnel.

The moment was captured on the dashcam of a driver behind who later called the police because he thought she was a kidnapping victim.

The bizarre incident happened in the city of Yichang in Central China’s Hubei Province while the couple were driving through Nuniangshan Tunnel.

The passenger-side door of the red saloon suddenly opens and the woman tumbles out onto the road in plain view of the witness, surnamed Lin.

Lin said: “While in the tunnel on the motorway, the woman suddenly fell out the moving car but was then lifted back inside again, so I thought it was a kidnapping!”

The video shows Lin following the couple’s car after calling the police, who track down the husband and pull him over shortly after.

What Lin thought was a kidnapping was then revealed to be a lovers’ quarrel, with the husband saying he lifted his wife back in the car and called an ambulance, which was waiting for them at the next service area.

The husband, who was not named, did not reveal what they were arguing about, only that his wife unbuckled her seat belt, opened the door and jumped out, injuring herself in the process.

The injured wife was taken to hospital for treatment and is not believed to be in any life-threatening condition.

The authorities have commended Lin for being alert and reporting the incident – even though it did not turn out to be a kidnapping as he had originally thought.
