This is the moment the laughter of a mum and her two daughters as they rescue a wild guinea pig from a hole in the ground turns to screams when the family pet dog pounces on the small animal and savages it.

The video shows the laughing woman at the bottom of a deep hole where she’s trying and mostly failing to capture the animal, believed to be a Brazilian guinea pig, that had fallen inside and failed to get out.

The woman named Juliane kept trying to grab the rodent as it ran round and round the outside of the hole, and eventually, she plucks up the courage to pick it up, and then climbs up the wooden ladder where her family including two daughters are waiting at the top.

She then holds onto the scared rodent for short while, allowing her daughters to see it and stroke it, before releasing it where it scampers off towards a wall.

But just as it gets there, inches away from safety, the family pet dog that appears to be a Jack Russell appears from nowhere and pounces on the guinea pig, snapping it up in its jaws and giving it a savage shake before running off pursued by Juliane and her screaming daughters.

The videos, which have since been viewed over two million times on TikTok since they were posted on 24th May, shows the woman saying go, run, as they release the doomed rodent.

The family members are scene pursuing the dog with the guinea pig still in its mouth as they disappear around the corner and the video ends.

It is not known if the rodent survived the attack, although from the footage, it seems unlikely.

The rodent is believed to have been a Brazilian guinea pig (Cavia aperea), which is found throughout South America and is a common species with a stable population.
