This is the heart-stopping moment a woman narrowly escapes being crushed to death in a faulty lift which suddenly shoots up as she prepares to step out.
The video – widely shared on social media platforms – was recorded in a building in China on 11th August.
The footage shows two women standing inside the lift which is stopped on the ground floor. The pair seem confused as to why the lift is not moving, and one of the women holding a plate of soup decides to step out.
However, as she heads towards the open doors, the lift car suddenly begins rising to another floor. She hesitates for a second and decides to jump out, narrowly avoiding being crushed between the car and lift shaft frame.
The second woman in the lift appears to attempt to stop her acquaintance, but she has already jumped out and a loud crash can be heard as she presumably drops the plate in her hands.
The second lift passenger is left confused as the faulty car continues to rise despite both metal doors being fully open.
As the video ends, she is still watching the wall of the lift shaft and each floor’s lift doors pass in front of her.
The incident is not believed to have resulted in any injuries, but it is unclear whether the precise cause of the malfunction was ever investigated.
