Woman Aged 95 Hospitalised After Rape By Man Who Broke In Through Window In Middle Of Night

A 95-year-old woman has been hospitalised after a violent rape in her own home by an attacker who broke in through a window in the middle of the night.

The shocking incident took place in the city of Figueres, which is located in the north-eastern Spanish province of Girona, in the autonomous community of Catalonia, shortly before midnight on Friday, 21st January.

The woman lived in her house alone, and the man who attacked her entered the building by climbing through a window. He then raped the elderly woman.

The identity of the attacker is currently unknown, but it was reported that he spoke both the local language, Catalan, and Spanish. He is currently being sought by police.

After the attack, the suspect fled the scene and the victim called the emergency services to report what had happened.

The elderly woman, who was not named, was taken to hospital, where medics found that she had suffered serious injuries to her genitals, and she had to undergo emergency surgery.

The victim currently remains hospitalised, and it is unclear if she has any family members who can look after her after she is discharged from the hospital.

The Spanish police have not revealed if they have apprehended the suspect or if he remains at large. There have been no updates mentioning any arrests.
