A young woman who urged people to fight their fears and live life like a lion was murdered a short while later by a man who claimed she agreed to have sex with him when they met in a park.

The victim’s body was found in a forested area called Yaren Tepe in the neighbourhood of Ataturk located in the district of Menderes in the Turkish city of Izmir on 19th February.

It was discovered by a park ranger who found the victim wrapped in a blanket in a wooded area.

She was later identified as Ayse Nazli Kinaci, 20, who was reported as missing by her family at Alsancak Police Station on 15th February.

It was recently revealed that she had posted a strange social media post shortly before she was murdered which read: “Fear does not deliver anyone from death. Live like a lion.”

The authorities learned that Kinaci left her home to spend time with her boyfriend, identified as R.S., at his home on 12th February.

The police took R.S. in for questioning after he claimed he had an argument with Kinaci, but never saw her again afterwards. It is unclear what the argument was about.

CCTV footage later revealed that Kinaci was in a vehicle owned by a man identified as T.O.I. who is now under arrest. It is unclear why she got into the car with him and whether she was forced.

Local media said the suspect initially gave conflicting reports, but later confessed to committing the murder.

He claimed he met the 20-year-old woman at a park before heading to Urkmez Dam where they had sex, but argued afterwards.

T.O.I. reportedly confessed to strangling Kinaci to death with his bare hands and wrapping her body in a blanket before putting it in the boot of his car and dumping it in Yaren Tepe.

The suspect is expected to stand trial for murder when the investigation is concluded, but it is unclear when that is expected to be.
