This footage shows the scenes as seven tourists including a 10-year-old were rescued from a ski lift in this winter wonderland after a felled tree caused it to break down.

The incident took place at the Blagodat balneological resort in the town of Belokurikha located in south-central Russia’s Altai Krai region when a felled tree caused the chairlift to stop.

At the time, seven tourists were trapped in the chairlift high above the ground, including a 10-year-old boy.

To help the tourists, the emergency services sent an 18-person team to rescue them from the broken-down chairlift.

According to local media, the rescue team had difficulties reaching the tourists’ position and had to go through a snow-covered forest on foot to reach them as their ground vehicles could not travel through the dense woodland.

Reports said that it took over an hour and a half to bring the tourists down from their elevated position, but luckily no one was hurt during the incident.

According to local media, the resort’s management have decided to stop all services for the chairlift due to the risk of avalanches.
