Winchester Fire Threatens Utility Infrastructures

This is the moment an aerial fuel tanker can be seen spraying water over a wooded area in order to fight the Winchester Fire.

The footage of aerial firefighting trying to battle the wildfire that was sparked by lightning in the Winchester Mountains, west of Willcox in Arizona on 14 June was shared yesterday ( 16th June).

At the time of filming, the burning area was aerially mapped at 1,600 acres.

Despite the large area covered by the fire, there were no structures exposed to the risk, but the fire threatens some utility infrastructures.

The Arizona Department of Forestry and Fire Management posted the video on the Facebook platform with the following message:” While the fire remained quiet overnight, activity is increasing as temperatures heat up.

Aircraft will be heavily utilized to support hand crews working to construct a fire line.”
