This footage shows a three-legged wild boar stumbling into a family’s sitting room while looking for food before stopping in its tracks to watch TV.

The hog weighing a reported 100 kilogrammes (220 lbs) was later shot dead after police in Puning City, in South China’s Guangdong Province, considered it a threat to public safety.

Footage from the village of Huludi shows the Eurasian wild pig (Sus scrofa) with three legs sprinting down a narrow alley before turning into a private residence.

Homeowner Pan Cairong said she and her husband were preparing to leave the house and had just opened the door when the pig charged in and sent them running for cover.

CCTV video from their home shows the snorting animal wandering into their sitting room where a television is playing.

The pig stops and appears to look at the TV for several moments before scampering further into the home in search of food.

Zhuang Keming, who is deputy chief of Daba Police Station, said: “The residents were about to go out when they opened the door and the wild boar rushed into their home.

“The male resident had an umbrella which he used to block the pig before running away. They locked the door behind them and trapped the pig inside.

“The plan was to drive it out of the home or capture it alive, but that wasn’t successful.

“We were concerned that it would escape and cause harm to nearby residents. The pig weighed 100 kilogrammes (220 lbs) and was far too aggressive.”

Zhuang said he and his colleagues were given permission to shoot the wild boar, which belongs to a species otherwise under state protection.

Officers reportedly fired several shots at the animal before killing it, with footage showing the three-legged boar being carried out of the home by no fewer than four cops.

No local residents were injured during the incident.
