WIFE OF CRIME: Most Wanted Drugs Boss Seized After Motel Tryst With Wife Caught On CCTV

A drugs kingpin on the run for five years had been seized by police in Brazil after a secret tryst with his wife was caught on motel security CCTV.

Anderson Lacerda Pereira, 42, – aka Gordao, or ‘the fat one’ – kept one step ahead of the police thanks to a series of bunkers, tunnels and secret hideouts.

But he was tracked down after a meeting with his wife in a motel on August 15 was recorded on their security cameras.

Pereira has been wanted by the police since 2017 and was put on Interpol’s wanted list in 2020.

On Tuesday (September 6) he underwent a custody hearing on Tuesday in Sao Paulo, Brazil following his arrest on Monday, 5th September.

He is accused of trafficking vast quantities of cocaine to European countries and reportedly had dealings with the Italian Mafia.

According to the police, ‘Gordao’ became a millionaire early in his career and was inspired by international drug traffickers such as Mexico’s Amado Carrillo Fuentes and Colombia’s Pablo Escobar, who was gunned down by police in Medellin in 1993.

Escobar was reportedly his biggest idol, still according to the police, and Pereira even had his own zoo complete with macaws, monkeys and alligators, modelled on the one Escobar had. Escobar’s zoo was notorious for featuring hippos, camels and even elephants.

Pereira’s zoo is reportedly located on the Guamuchilito farm, in the city of Santa Isabel, in the Sao Paulo area. The property is reportedly named after the Mexican city where Mexican drug lord Amado Carrillo Fuentes was born.

The police said that he evaded capture for so long by staying in different motels but CCTV recorded him meeting his wife at one of these locations on 15th August.

The police said that Pereira used his ill-gotten gains to set up over 30 medical and dental practices in the greater Sao Paulo area and that he purchased 15 high-end homes in the city of Aruja , which is also in the Sao Paulo area. Some of these homes had bunkers and in one, a secret tunnel was found, still according to the police.

The escape tunnel is reportedly 50 metres long and leads to a condo in a forested area.

Pereira is also accused of having closed million-dollar contracts without any bidding, using the City Hall of Aruja, where he reportedly exerted undue influence. He also reportedly used the city and the public health system to expand his business empire.

After the hearing on Tuesday, he and his right hand man, who has been named only as Janio, and who was also arrested, were transferred to prison while the police investigations continue.
