Bryan Allen, 50, from the city of Pensacola in Escambia County, Florida, USA, had bought the ticket after the Christmas holidays.

But he reportedly never expected that the Billion Dollar Gold Rush Supreme scratch-off worth USD 30 (GBP 24,6) would turn him into a multimillionaire.

Allen then rushed to the Lottery’s Pensacola District Office to collect his USD 15 million (GBP 12,3 million) prize on Friday, 6th January.

He then chose to take his winnings as a one-time lump-sum payment of USD 13,2 million (GBP 10,8) instead of receiving smaller annual payments over a longer period of time.

In addition, the convenience store where he purchased the ticket will also receive a USD 30,000 (GBP 24,693) bonus commission for selling a winning ticket.

The scratch-off game offering USD 15 million (GBP 12,3 million) also features 24 USD 1 million (GBP 823,000) prizes launched in February 2021.

Florida Lottery said in a statement obtained by Newsflash: “The overall odds of winning are 1-in-2.59.

“Scratch-Off games are an important part of the Lottery’s portfolio of games, comprising approximately 77 percent of ticket sales in fiscal year 2021-2022.

“Since inception, Scratch-Off games have generated more than USD 17.06 billion (GBP 14 billion) for the Educational Enhancement Trust Fund (EETF).”

The lottery has paid over USD 85.1 billion (GBP 70 billion) in prizes and made more than 3,500 people millionaires after it was established in 1988.
