Latin media has mocked a question on ‘Who Wants to Be a Millionaire?’ after the contestant could not name ‘El Chapo’ as a notorious drug lord and 30 percent of the audience thought it was Spanish left-wing politician Pablo Iglesias.

The incident was widely reported in Latin media after several key figures, including a former Colombian president, appeared as options alongside the correct answer, notorious Mexican drug lord Joaquin ‘El Chapo’ Guzman Loera.

The Dutch ‘Who Wants to Be a Millionaire?’ presenter asked the contestant: “Which of these men was a major drug lord?”

The options were Luis Alfonso Rodriguez Lopez-Cepero, better known as Luis Fonsi, a well known Puerto Rican singer; former Colombian president Juan Manuel Santos; Joaquin Guzman Loera; and Pablo Iglesias Turrion, the Secretary-General of the Spanish ‘Podemos’ (‘We Can’) party since 2014.

The contestant did not know the answer and he asked the audience for help.

According to reports, 30 percent of the Dutch audience thought the answer was Spanish left-wing Spanish politician Pablo Iglesias Turrion.

However, 40 percent reportedly correctly guessed Joaquin ‘El Chapo’ Guzman Loera and the contestant moved on to the next question.

The inclusion of the former Colombian president alongside El Chapo’s name was widely commented on by Latin media and netizens, who also found it amusing that 30 percent of the Dutch audience thought the answer was Iglesias Turrion.

Following the results of the November 2019 Spanish general election, Pedro Sanchez and Iglesias Turrion announced a preliminary agreement between PSOE and Podemos to rule together.

A Spanish netizen joked: “Is this something to take into account with the coming government?”

‘RiveroJackie’ said: “All the answers are correct! Juan Manuel Santos left Colombia with the biggest cocaine crops in South America!”
