A white woman in South Africa has joined a black Zulu family as the man’s third wife.

Michelle Schoeman, a singer from the South African province of Mpumalanga, has reportedly married into the Phungula family from the city of Pietermritzburg in the province of KwaZulu-Natal.

Mr Phungula, a farmer who owns a BnB resort, had two wives called Ncumisa Mlandu and Lebohang Sethole, and he has now welcomed Schoeman into the fold.

His other wives said that they have “warmly accepted Michelle ‘Mimi’ Schoeman to join us and add more joy to this beautiful family”.

According to Opera News, Michelle’s parents refused to accept the ‘lobola’, otherwise known as ‘bridal fee’, offering from Phungula, but they were unable to prevent her from following her heart.

She is now married and is the third official Mrs Phungula.

Michelle is living with the Zulu family and is currently learning the traditional customs for women.

The photos show the blushing bride posing with her husband and fellow wives in their home town.

Netizen ‘Hunadi Muriel Ramushu’ said: “I love how MaSchoeman is embracing the Zulu culture… Siya bonga Mamkhula for all your teachings. Loving this family.”

But others trolled the family such as ‘Nonhle Mfeka’ who commented: “She will need to go see a therapist after this.”
