This shocking footage shows how a cruel woman dumped her pet cat on a roadside before almost crushing it under a wheel as she drove away.

The video was posted online by the non-profit organisation Miss Pat’s Cats, which “rescues, feeds, spays and neuters stray cats in the East Orange, Newark, and Irvington area” in New Jersey, USA.

It shows how the woman parks her car near the kerb before letting her pet cat out of the passenger-side door.

But before she drives off, the moggy crawls underneath the vehicle.

The woman can then be seen getting out of the driver-side door and having a look underneath the car.

It is unclear if she spots the cat or not, but she decides to get back in the vehicle and drive off.

Luckily, the cat appears unscathed as it emerges when the woman drives away.

However, it could easily have been crushed by a wheel.

Miss Pat’s Cats did not mince its words when it wrote online: “Does anyone recognize this a__hole lady, car or cat?

“She dumped this poor kitty at 60 Evergreen in East Orange last nite at 8:30.

“A worker found this poor kitty in the same spot this morning when he arrived at work! POS!!! Cat is safe with a rescue in Englewood!”

When asked by a social media user if a police report had been filed, the NPO replied: “No! No one was there last night! No license plate #. So no info.

“Doubt if EOPD would do anything!”

Social media user Frances Sciancalepore Lee commented: “Poor kitty. How can people do this. Heartless.”
