WHAT THE TRUCK? Protester Clung To Lorry For Miles After It Broke Through Roadblock

A Bolsonaro supporter clung to the front of a lorry for miles after its exasperated driver drove through a protest blocking the motorway.

The man had been blocking the BR-232 highway in Caruaru, Pernambuco State, north-eastern Brazil to protest the results of the general election on 30th October.

The election saw left-wing candidate Lula narrowly beat his incumbent, right-wing rival Jair Bolsonaro, taking 50.9 per cent of the vote compared to 49.1 per cent.

The trucker – apparently fed up at having his journey held up – is said to have driven straight through the demonstration.

This allegedly prompted the protester to climb onto the front of his vehicle to prevent it from travelling further down the road.

Local media reported that the trucker drove for “some kilometres” down the highway with the man still clinging onto the front of the lorry.

Footage shows how he said to the man: “I’m going to stop there for you to get off, you get off, OK? I don’t want trouble, man, I’m working. I left my home…I have three children.”

The incident was not reported to Federal Highway Police, local media said.

Following Lula’s victory, Bolsonaro supporters have been blocking hundreds of roads throughout Brazil in protest against the election results, affecting public transport and public services.
